The D700 is a great camera, the quality is over all what i tried before (D70, D200 and D300 from Nikon). You can easily take picture in low light, the quality stays good even with high ISO. The price is good for the quality of the camera. You won't see much difference with others Nikon full frames cameras under normal light. The advantage is that the camera is smaller and lighter than the D3 collection. For outside photography i would really advise to take the D700.
